E-mail Print PDF

To make the appointment for your FREE Mammogram call (800) 372-6094.  You will be asked some questions such as do you feel a lump in your breast etc.. these are just routine questions.  You will be asked to provide your  vital information:  name, address, phone number. Please note that you need to call or register 6-8 weeks prior to event to enroll (registration is limited)   Click here to see our event Calendar

What is the procedure for a Mammogram appointment?

Once you have called and arranged your appointment time you can expect the following:

  • Each clinic/exam is done at the Alice Gustafson Center which is a separate building from the hospital
  • You are called a few days before your appointment by the clinic to remind you of your appointment time and other instructions such as not to wear deodorant.
  • Appointments are spaced about 15 minutes apart so there isn't a lot of waiting.
  • Once you arrive and are checked in you will be taken to a dressing area where you will change into a gown, shortly after that you will be taken to your exam room.
  • Usually there are two technicians or it may be even three - this is all routine so do not be alarmed
  • Once your exam/mammogram is complete you should expect the results with in 2 weeks

Criteria:

  • Uninsured or under served
  • Resident of Oakland County
  • Over age 40
  • If under age 40, then a palatable mass (will see the physician for a breast exam before a mammogram will be ordered).
